Welcome to Louiston!

Louiston is a small town, tucked in a valley in the Appalachian Mountains and nestled in corner where two rivers join. Founded in the early 1800’s, it was originally a resupply point for men and women traveling west during the period of westward expansion. For almost a century, Louiston’s economy was centered on coal mining and logging.

But with a new mayor and a powerhouse of a woman, Louiston evolved from a dying town to a thriving community centered on its people. Now, with a steadily growing infrastructure that is fed, in part, by outdoor sporting enthusiasts and tourism, Louiston is a sanctuary for all who travel into or live within its limits.
